Habitat management goes on after the end of the project

In the last year Nature Conservation agency continuded to manage habitats that were restored within the project "Forest habitat restoration within the Gauja National Park" to preserve created landscapes, as well as to continue the conservation of biodiversity in Gauja river valley in Sigulda and in Ungurmuiza manor park where the largest Hermit beetle habitat within the Gauja National park is situated. In a 25 ha large territory young tree overgrowth was cut down to ensure that the open park-like landscape was maintained.

In the future years the park-like landscape will be conserved with mowning and grazing so the River Gauja valley near Sigulda will regain its past beauty as it is visible in ancient Gauja valley photographs and drawings.

Activities are carried by the Nature Conservation agency to maintain the results of project "Forest habitat restoration within the Gauja National Park" (FOR-REST, LIFE10 NAT /LV / 000159)
